BizLabTech students visit Technology Park Split to develop business ideas

As part of the BizLabTech, Business Academy for Young Leaders program, secondary school students visited Technology Park Split, where they had the opportunity to learn more about the business and startup environment, hear first-hand experiences from entrepreneurs, and take their first steps toward developing their own business ideas through practical work.

BizLabTech is organized by the Faculty of Economics at the University of Split, in cooperation with Technology Park Split, with the support of the City of Split, with the aim of bringing entrepreneurship, innovation, technology, and modern business practices closer to young people.

From an idea to an entrepreneurial venture

A special part of the visit to Technology Park was a presentation by Park residents Light Block, Meta Belly, and EasyLazy, whose representatives introduced students to their business ideas, products, and journeys from an initial idea to the development of their own companies.

Through conversations with entrepreneurs, students had the opportunity to hear first-hand what starting a business looks like, what challenges they faced at the beginning, and how they developed their ideas and turned them into concrete products and business models.

This direct interaction with entrepreneurs gave students an opportunity to learn about the business world beyond theory and the classroom and gain a more realistic understanding of how an entrepreneurial story is created and developed.

From a problem to your own idea

The presentations were followed by a session titled “Earn from Your Idea – Entrepreneurship and Innovation”, which introduced students to the basics of entrepreneurial thinking, idea development, and ways of turning ideas into concrete solutions.

After the session, participants were divided into teams and, using selected methods for identifying and defining problems, began the practical part of the workshop. The goal was to identify a specific problem they wanted to solve and use it as a starting point for developing their own idea for further project development.

In this way, students had the opportunity to go through the first step of the entrepreneurial process – from identifying a problem to shaping an idea that could offer a solution.

Learning through real-life experiences

The visit to Technology Park is part of the broader goal of the BizLabTech program: connecting knowledge gained through education with the real-world business environment. Through the program, students have the opportunity to meet entrepreneurs and experts from various fields, learn about their business journeys, and develop their own ideas through practical assignments.

Connecting young people with the local entrepreneurial and technology community is an important step in creating an environment where they can explore their interests, develop entrepreneurial skills, and learn how an idea can be turned into a concrete project.

As the program continues, participants will take part in new modules, practical assignments, and meetings with representatives of the business sector, while continuing to shape their ideas through teamwork and further project development.
