Split Technology Park tenants’ party

The first tenants recently officially moved into Split Technology Park, which opened in the middle of this year, and on Thursday they marked the end of a successful year with a festive holiday get-together. Almost 50 companies will use the TPS premises as a home for incubating business ideas, developing independent projects and expanding their businesses.

The Split Development Agency – RaST organised a Christmas party for the tenants of Split Technology Park. Designed as an opportunity to get to know one another better and socialise, the event brought together tenants from different teams in a relaxed atmosphere with a DJ and refreshments. The positive atmosphere and informal socialising showed that this type of event is more than welcome among the tenants.

Over the course of this year, 29 office units have been filled by high-tech micro, small and medium-sized enterprises: Smartnet, Reeinvent, Notch, Little code, RISE, Profico, Digital Assets, Uhy savjetovanje, Allstars Engineering, Building Heritage, Kancelarija, Geppert Electric, Hidrocibalae, Integra Group, Studio Nexar, Maven Mule, Holistic 360, Parklio, B.S.G. Advisory, Eupolis Grupa, Caelum 1029, Travel Croatia and Meritum inženjering.

The first tenants also include the following start-ups, i.e. start-up entrepreneurs up to 5 years old: SplxAI, Decentralized Reader, Workspace, Petkus Design, Fira Solutions, Engasco Ice Rebus, Fira Solutions, Workspace, Decentralized Reader, Bellyy, Verus Consilium, Black & White, Solutions, SplxAI and Marteching Solutions.

Smart City Lab launched to strengthen the city’s digital transformation

Yesterday, Split Technology Park hosted the founding meeting of the Smart City Lab, attended by Mayor Ivica Puljak and Deputy Mayor Antonio Kuzmanić, together with the directors of city-owned companies and heads of city institutions. Representatives of the Split Development Agency – RaST presented a plan for the sustainable transformation of city-owned companies and institutions, which will be implemented within the Smart City Lab at Split Technology Park.

The Smart City Lab will coordinate all activities related to digitalisation, the improvement of city services and the optimisation of the operations of city-owned companies and institutions. Through the implementation of advanced technologies and the development of smart solutions, the aim is to increase efficiency, reduce negative environmental impact and raise the quality of life for all citizens of Split.

The establishment of the Smart City Lab gives strong momentum to the continued digital transformation of the City of Split, which is important for tackling urban challenges such as traffic congestion, pollution and limited resources, for optimising infrastructure to create a sustainable future, and for modernising and developing digital services for citizens.

Diplomatic corps on an official visit to Split Technology Park

Members of the diplomatic corps – representatives and ambassadors of 25 countries – toured Split Technology Park as part of their official visit to Split.

Goran Batinić, Director of the Split Development Agency – RaST, which manages Split Technology Park, presented to the guests all the details of the planning and delivery of the largest technology hub in Croatia, as well as the many programmes and activities organised at TPS for entrepreneurs and start-ups.

The visit by such a large number of foreign representatives was a major step in promoting Split and Split Technology Park internationally and opens the door to many new partnerships and investments.

Communication training at Split Technology Park

Split Technology Park tenants had the opportunity to take part in a communication skills training led by Pinija Poljaković, a sociologist and expert in public speaking and media appearances. With her extensive experience and professional approach, Pinija inspired the participants to face communication challenges and unlock their full potential. The training was specially designed to help participants build self-confidence, improve active listening and adopt an assertive approach to communication.

The training focused on the practical application of the techniques learned. Through concrete examples and exercises, participants acquired tools that will help them in everyday professional situations, whether leading teams, presenting ideas or handling challenging interactions. Alongside expert advice and guidance, the training offered an opportunity for personal growth and development, as well as for connecting through the exchange of experiences.

The event was a great reminder of the importance of continuous investment in professional skills, and the training further empowered our tenants in their professional endeavours.

Pitch training for start-ups at Split Technology Park

As part of the INVENTO accelerator programme for start-up entrepreneurs, a two-day pitch training session led by Peter Bruner was held at Split Technology Park. Bruner is the founder of OOSM, an internationally successful digital advertising and software development company, and is known for taking part in Startup Boot Camp in Amsterdam and winning European awards for best pitch. Today he shares his wealth of experience as a mentor and lecturer, inspiring and educating new generations of entrepreneurs.

The first day of the training was devoted to the theoretical foundations of presenting, focusing on acquiring new knowledge and skills in presenting business ideas, while the second was devoted to individual work with each start-up, tailoring advice and strategies to their specific needs.

The training was attended by all 13 start-ups in the INVENTO accelerator. This activity is another step towards strengthening the local start-up scene and developing new business ideas with global potential.

Split Technology Park at Web Summit in Lisbon

Representatives of Split Technology Park took part in Web Summit 2024, held in Lisbon from 11 to 14 November. Web Summit is one of the largest and most prestigious global gatherings in the world of technology and innovation, and this year it brought together more than 71,000 visitors from 153 countries.

A total of 3,050 different companies, institutions and start-ups, 1,066 investors and 953 speakers took part in the summit, discussing the latest trends and innovations in technology, digital marketing, artificial intelligence, blockchain, IoT, social media and other topics.

Taking part in Web Summit gave us the opportunity to expand our network of contacts with other business support institutions in Croatia and abroad, to establish new partnerships aimed at supporting the tenants (start-ups and SMEs) of Split Technology Park, and to get acquainted with the latest trends in technology and innovation and learn from leaders in their respective industries.

Intellectual property training held

Today, Split Technology Park organised a training session on intellectual property for Split Technology Park tenants and start-ups taking part in the INVENTO accelerator. The Invento acceleration programme supports newly established companies up to five years old that develop innovative solutions, services and technologies, as well as development teams focused on creating innovative products or services.

The one-day training focused on the key areas and types of intellectual property protection. Particular emphasis was placed on the legal frameworks and processes for protecting intellectual property in Croatia, in Europe and globally.

The guest lecturers were Vedran Đidara, an expert with many years of experience working with entrepreneurs on the development of innovative products and services and on project management, and Frano Barović, a legal expert in corporate matters, start-ups and venture capital transactions in Croatia, with extensive experience in legal advisory work. The lecturers shared their knowledge and practical experience with the participants, providing valuable insights into intellectual property protection that will help the companies in their business.

The first tenants of Split Technology Park

The first tenants will soon be moving into Split Technology Park. As a result of the first round of public calls for the lease of offices for start-up entrepreneurs and for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, a total of 32 companies will move into Split Technology Park.

Following the first round of the public call for the lease of office space for SMEs, 37 of the 51 office units in the building intended for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises have been taken. The 37 office units will thus be occupied by a total of 26 high-tech SMEs, namely: Smartnet, Reeinvent, Notch, Little code, RISE, Profico, Digital Assets, Uhy savjetovanje, Allstars Engineering, Building Heritage, Kancelarija, Geppert Electric, Hidrocibalae, Integra Group, Axigo AG, Studio Nexar, Maven Mule, Holistic 360, Parklio, B.S.G. Advisory, Eupolis Grupa, Laus Plus, Apto, Caelum 1029, Travel Croatia and Meritum inženjering. The first tenants will move into furnished offices from 1 November, while the other tenants who applied for shell-and-core (roh bau) space will move in by the middle of next year, once fit-out has been completed.

In addition, following the first round of the public call for start-up entrepreneurs up to 5 years old, 6 start-ups are moving into the incubation offices: SplxAI, Decentralized Reader, Workspace, Petkus Design, Fira Solutions and Engasco, 5 of which have qualified for City of Split de minimis aid covering 50% of the monthly fee. Furthermore, 13 start-ups are currently in the acceleration programme of the INVENTO accelerator, which Split Technology Park runs in cooperation with Invento Capital Partners as part of the HAMAG-BICRO programme.

Besides these start-up entrepreneurs and micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, a further 7 companies have joined Split Technology Park as users of the coworking space through the FIX DESK package, i.e. a year-round rental of a fixed workstation in the TPS coworking centre.

In its first three months of operation, the services and facilities of Split Technology Park, in the form of office space or programmes for entrepreneurs, are thus being used by 48 entrepreneurs from the high-tech sector, whereby the Split Development Agency – RaST fully meets the objectives of establishing and managing the City of Split’s business support infrastructure, co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund.

The second round of public calls for the lease of the remaining office space at Split Technology Park will be published in the coming weeks on the official TPS website.

Acceleration programme launched at Split Technology Park

In September, Split Technology Park launched the INVENTO accelerator in cooperation with Invento Capital Partners. The accelerator programme provides a comprehensive support system for start-up entrepreneurs, i.e. newly established companies up to 5 years old whose activities or products involve innovative solutions, services and technologies, as well as development teams working on an innovative product/service. The accelerator includes support in the form of an initial business assessment, individual business advice, mentoring by expert mentors, support in communicating with investors, internationalisation activities and more.

Within the accelerator, 13 selected companies have been admitted to the pre-acceleration programme, giving them the opportunity to develop their business through advisory, mentoring and infrastructure support from Split Technology Park. The companies in the pre-acceleration phase developing an innovative product/service (at TRL 5–8) within the INVENTO accelerator are: BELLYY, Disequi doo, WORKSPACE d.o.o., Reeinvent d.o.o., ELNAV.AI d.o.o., Verus Consilium d.o.o., Apex Academy d.o.o., Decentralized Reader d.o.o., Warp Code d.o.o., Pakra d.o.o., Black & White Solutions, SplxAI d.o.o., Marteching Solutions d.o.o.

Over the next two years, these accelerator members will have access to non-financial support worth up to €27,000.00 in the form of accelerator services, as well as financial support of €25,000.00 upon progressing to the acceleration phase, and vouchers for business internationalisation (for company participation in international events, trade fairs, workshops and conferences).

The construction of the central building of Split Technology Park was co-financed through two projects, “Construction and Equipping of the Central Building of Split Technology Park – Dračevac” and “Development of the Dračevac Zone – Split Technology Park – Dračevac”, with a total value of EUR 21,866,655.48, of which EUR 13,945,747.52 is co-financed by European Union grants from the European Regional Development Fund under the Operational Programme “Competitiveness and Cohesion 2014–2020”.

The reconstruction of the former Sv. Križ barracks was carried out by Strabag d.o.o., with professional supervision by Trames d.o.o.
