Demolition of the Old Barracks Marks the Start of the First Phase of Construction of the Future Technology Park at Dračevac

At the beginning of this week, the first phase of the project to build the central building of Split Technology Park – Dračevac began in the Dračevac zone. By removing the existing building of  the former Dračevac barracks, the City of Split has launched the regeneration of the Dračevac zone, a major step forward in creating the infrastructural and institutional preconditions for the development of a high-tech centre.

The removal of the existing building and the construction of the central building of the Technology Park are being carried out by Strabag d.o.o., and the value of  the construction of the central building of Split Technology Park – Dračevac is HRK 124,498,144.27, with completion scheduled for the end of May 2023.  The project “Development of the Dračevac Zone – Split Technology Park – Dračevac” involves activities related to the reconstruction, extension and addition of storeys to the former Sv. Križ barracks building in order to establish Split Technology Park – Dračevac (TPS). This project covers the first phase of establishing TPS and is financed under specific objective 6e2 “Regeneration of brownfield sites (former military and/or industrial areas) within ITI”, while the second phase, i.e. the project application “Construction and Equipping of the Central Building of Split Technology Park – Dračevac”, is financed under specific objective 3a2 “Providing a favourable environment for entrepreneurship development” and covers further activities aimed at completing the construction and equipping of the TPS central building.

The City of Split Is Now the Owner of Dračevac – an Important Step in Delivering One of the City’s Largest Projects!

On the basis of the Agreement on the Donation of Real Estate owned by the Republic of Croatia in the Split cadastral municipality, part of the former “Sv. Križ” barracks at Dračevac, to the City of Split for the purpose of building Split Technology Park and the City of Split Transport Centre, the Land Registry Department of the Split Municipal Court issued a decision on 9 November 2021 granting the City of Split the right of registration, thereby making it the owner of Dračevac. This marks a significant step towards the further implementation of one of the city’s largest development projects.

We would like to remind you that the project to build and equip Split Technology Park Dračevac is being implemented  under two restricted calls for proposals of the Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds through the ITI mechanism: ITI – Construction and Equipping of the Central Building of Split Technology Park – Dračevac, and ITI – Development of the Dračevac Zone – Split Technology Park – Dračevac.

The Development of the Dračevac Zone project involves activities related to the reconstruction, extension and addition of storeys to the former Sv. Križ barracks building in order to establish Split Technology Park – Dračevac (TPS), while the Construction and Equipping of the Central Building of Split Technology Park project  covers the second phase in the process of establishing Split Technology Park – Dračevac. The activities covered by this project include the finishing and fit-out works on the TPS central building up to the level of usability, project management, and promotion and visibility.

The grant agreements for both projects were signed in April 2021 between the Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds, the Central Finance and Contracting Agency for EU Programmes and Projects, and the City of Split as the grant beneficiary. The total value of both projects is HRK 164,754,315.70, of which HRK 105,074,234.69 is grant funding.

To date, the public procurement procedure has been carried out for the works “Design and Construction of the Central Building of the First Phase of Split Technology Park  – Dračevac”, following which a contract was signed with the contractor, Strabag d.o.o., and  the design phase is now set to begin.

As regards the status of the “Transport Centre” at Dračevac, a conceptual design for the Garage and Service Centre has been completed, and the documentation required to apply for a location permit is currently being prepared.
