Metabelly secures investment to develop innovative digital health platform Optibiomics

Split Technology Park startup Metabelly has successfully closed a seed investment through the Vesna VC fund, in cooperation with the Faculty of Food Technology and Biotechnology of the University of Zagreb. The investment totals EUR 350,000.00, of which EUR 75,000.00 has already been paid out for the start of the first development phase (PoC).

Metabelly’s innovative digital health platform Optibiomics works like Google Analytics for the gut microbiome: it integrates data from the gut, brain and body, helping doctors achieve more precise diagnosis and personalised treatment of chronic digestive and mental health disorders.

At Split Technology Park we are extremely proud of Metabelly’s success and congratulate them on this major step towards the digital future of health! We will continue to provide them, as well as all the other startups that are part of our New Technologies Incubator, with support, mentoring and training, as well as access to investor networks.

Final meeting held under the Knowledge Sharing Program with the Korea Development Institute

On 12 June 2025, Split Technology Park hosted the final meeting of the international Knowledge Sharing Program (KSP), implemented in cooperation between the Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Korea, the City of Split, Split Development Agency – RaST and the Korea Development Institute (KDI).

The KSP programme, under way since September 2024, focuses on knowledge transfer, international cooperation and the development of recommendations for improving the innovation and entrepreneurial ecosystem based on successful examples from Korean practice. The programme aims to strengthen high-tech entrepreneurship and small and medium-sized enterprises through the further development and positioning of Split Technology Park.

In early 2025, during a visit to South Korea, cooperation was established between Split Technology Park and Sejong Technopark. A visit to Korea’s KAIST (Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology) strengthened the capacity of the City of Split and RaST to further develop Split Technology Park in line with modern international standards.

The final meeting brought together the Korean delegation and representatives of the City of Split and the RaST Development Agency. The results of four thematic studies were presented – on the development of the innovation ecosystem and the global competitiveness of TPS, technology park management models, an analysis of the existing management plan, and educational and mentoring programmes for entrepreneurs. The Korean research team analysed the current state and potential of Split Technology Park and proposed strategies for better management, internationalisation and support for the startup community. After the presentations, participants exchanged views, discussed options for implementing the recommendations and agreed on the next steps in the cooperation.

The final meeting concluded the first phase of cooperation with the Korea Development Institute and laid the foundations for a continued partnership and for putting the recommendations into practice.

Strengthening cooperation and knowledge exchange in industrial 3D printing

Last week, as part of ongoing cooperation and efforts to strengthen relations with leading technology players, representatives of Split Technology Park visited IZIT in Zagreb – a regional leader in industrial 3D printing and additive manufacturing.

During the visit, they had the opportunity to see first-hand the latest technologies and equipment that IZIT uses in its day-to-day work – from highly sophisticated 3D printers to advanced processes for producing complex industrial components. Particular emphasis was placed on the company’s focus on innovation and knowledge exchange, which contributes significantly to the development of the domestic technology community.

IZIT actively cooperates with numerous development teams, including the Split Technology Park 3D laboratory, thereby further encouraging the development of new ideas and solutions. This visit opened the way for stronger cooperation and laid the foundations for future joint projects in additive manufacturing.

We thank the IZIT team for their hospitality and for a valuable insight into the world of industrial 3D printing.

Internationally renowned Fundraising Bootcamp for startups held at Split Technology Park

Last week, Split Technology Park hosted the Fundraising Bootcamp, an intensive five-day programme designed for startup founders who want to raise investment successfully. The Fundraising Bootcamp is one of the best fundraising programmes in the world and included theory, practical workshops and individual consultations.

The programme was led by world-renowned experts with many years of experience in the startup and VC ecosystem – Francois Mazoudier (founder and programme leader) and Marcela Donatello (programme director). Francois Mazoudier is a serial entrepreneur and long-standing startup expert who has founded 8 startups and has more than 15 years of experience advising founders, having so far helped companies raise more than 200 million dollars in capital. Marcela Donatello is an experienced community builder who led the development of TMRW, the largest coworking space in south London, whose impact on the local economy has been estimated at 45 million pounds. She is also a mentor in the Barclays Eagle Labs programme, with extensive experience in fostering startup growth.

The Split Technology Park startups taking part in the bootcamp were AymoLive, Marteching, Black&White Solutions and Elnav.ai from the acceleration programme. Over five intensive days, participants learned how to develop their investment story, understand investor psychology, avoid common mistakes and build an effective fundraising strategy. Particular emphasis was placed on developing a clear and compelling investment proposition, free of typical marketing buzzwords and unrealistic promises.

The Fundraising Bootcamp uses a proven system that has so far helped over 260 companies raise more than 350 million euros in investment. Participants also gained access to an exclusive database of 10,000 investors, professional tools and a broad community of founders from around the world. This is another step in positioning Split Technology Park as a key point for the development of the startup scene in the region.

Split Technology Park is part of the INVENTO accelerator, implemented within the “Strengthening Acceleration Activities” project of the Croatian Agency for SMEs, Innovations and Investments (HAMAG-BICRO). The project is financed from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan 2021–2026, through a programme aimed at encouraging the development and growth of newly established companies in the Republic of Croatia.

Split Technology Park hosts lecture on additive technologies and 3D printing

Split Technology Park hosted the first expert lecture entitled “Additive Technologies and 3D Printers”, organised by the University of Split – Department of Science and Innovation and Split Technology Park. The lecture brought together more than 40 participants, including engineers, designers, educators and other professionals interested in new manufacturing technologies.

The programme was opened by Anđela Samardžija, MEng in Industrial Engineering, who introduced participants to the fundamental concepts of additive manufacturing, including the types of technology (FDM, SLA, SLS), materials and applications in industry and education. This was followed by a talk by Marko Perić from IZIT, who presented concrete practical examples – from producing functional parts to applying reverse engineering. The talk by Mate Silić, Senior Associate at Split Technology Park, who presented the services and activities of the 3D laboratory, attracted particular attention. Participants had the opportunity to learn more about the possibilities of 3D printing, 3D scanning, prototyping and the educational programmes that TPS is developing in cooperation with industry and academia. The lecture was followed by a tour of the 3D laboratory and informal networking over lunch, which further helped participants connect and exchange knowledge.

Owing to the great interest, new educational events have been announced – including a June meetup focusing on the application of 3D technologies in product design and industrial manufacturing.
